Denaby United  4  Doncaster Rovers Res  1

Denaby United beat Doncaster Rovers Reserves 4 – 1 at Denaby, but there was not much to enthuse over in the display of either team.

Norman, Skeels, Pearson, and Gilchrist scored for Derby, and Yardley for Doncaster.

Denaby tried a new centre-forward named Pearson, from Boston. He fitted in better than any of his predecessors this season, was speedy and opened up the game well.

Newark  1  Wombwell  0

Wombwell owed’ a lot to their goalkeeper, Ward, in the match at Newark, for the Yorkshiremen were played to a standstill in the first half, when, with the slightest luck, the home team might have scored half a dozen goals, instead of the couple which accrued from Yorke (penalty) and Firth, the latter putting the finish to a solo effort by Whitlock.

The second half was goalless, with Wombwell deservedly holding their own, but there was never any question of Newark’s superiority.

Mexborough Town 1  Hull City Res  1

Best, the Mexborough goalkeeper, fumbling a shot by Goldsmith early in the second half, conceded the only goal of a hard game at Hampden Road.

Mexborough attacked incessantly for long spells without a shade of luck. Maddeson, in the Hull goal, made two brilliant saves, one in that first half from Bungay and the other in the second half from Guest. Fleetwood missed with a penalty kick for Mexborough in the second half.

Annables, at right back, was Mexborough’s best man, and Croft, College, and Maddeson stood out, for Hull.
