The death occurred at his home, 208, Wath Road, Mexborough, on Sunday, of Mr. John Siddall, who at 82, was one of the oldest members of the West County Council, up to his retirement in March to his retirement in March this year.
He had served on the County Council of for over 21 years.
A native of Poynton, Cheshire, he came to Yorkshire at an early age, and started work as a miner at Manvers Main.
He obtained a seat on Swinton Urban Council in 1902, and served as a member for 20 years, except for a two years’ break. He was chairman of the Council from 1915 to 1914. Mr. Siddall also served on many local committees.
The funeral took place yesterday at Swinton.
