June 1941

Mexborough & Swinton Times – Saturday 07 June 1941

Mr. A. Dobson (Mexborough) and Miss A. J. Worsley (Mexborough).

Two former members of the Yorkshire Co-operative Bakery staff, Miss Alice Jones Worsley, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Worsley, 65, Hirst Gate, Mexborough, and Mr. Alfred Dobson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dobson, Hirst Gate, Mexborough, were married at Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday.

The service was choral. Mr. L. Marshall was beat man, and Mr. Harry Dobson groomsman.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of white lace and satin over net with underslip of silk. Her veil of fine net was held by orange blossom and her bouquet was of pink roses. The attendant, Miss Mary Hobson, wore a blue lace gown trimmed with burgundy velvet and a silver Juliet cap. Miss Hobson carried pink carnations and received from the bridegroom a silver cross and chain. The bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by Rita Marr, of Swinton.

The bride received a cut glass water set from girls employed at the Yorkshire Co-operative Bakery, and the bridegroom received a chromium kerb from the men at the Bakery.
