Mexboro’ G.S. Teacher to Become College Lecturer
A Mexborough school teacher, Miss Brenda Sheridan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Sheridan of 29, York Street, Mexborough, will, early in the New Year, take up an appointment as Physical Education Lecturer at Neville’s Cross College in the City of Durham.
Miss Sheridan, a past pupil of Mexborough Grammar School, has for the past three years been teaching Physical Education at her old school.
On conclusion of her studies at the Grammar School, Miss Sheridan 4 attended Homerton Training College, and after two years joined the teaching staff at Swinton Fitzwilliam Infants’ School.
While at Swinton, Miss Sheridan; who was always very interested in sport, while at school, took a f year’s course on Physical Education at Haddleston, Surrey.
She later gained an appointment at Mexborough Grammar School as a Physical Education instructor.
Speaking to the “South Yorkshire Times” this week, Miss Sheridan said that as yet she had received no official date as to when her duties would commence, but Is expecting to start during the first two weeks of the New Year.
Miss Sheridan is well known in the district as a hockey player.
