Appointed a National Officer Of His Union
Mr Bryn Griffiths, secretary of Mexborough branch of the National Graphical Association for 11 years, and a linotype operator with the “South Yorkshire Times” and White Rose Press for 14 years is to take up a key post as a national officer of his union.
Mr. Griffiths (40), of Helen’ Street, Mexborough, will be based in Manchester, involved in trades union organisation in the North of England. North Wales, Isle of Man and Scotland.
A native of Pembrokeshire, Mr. Griffiths was employed by the “Western Mail,” Cardiff, before joining the “South Yorkshire Times” in 1955. He has been a member of the N.G.A. for 25 years.
Executive Member
Mr. Griffiths has just completed three years on the National Executive Council of his union, having served 11 years on the N.G.A. Yorkshire Regional Council, of which he was President in 1964.
This regional appointment he describes as a highlight of his career so far. Said Mr. Griffiths, “As a Welshman, I am very proud to have served in an official capacity in Yorkshire.”
Mr. Griffiths has a long-standing association with trades union and Labour Party affairs.
