Miss Irene Barnett, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Barnett, of 64, Doncaster Road, Mexborough, was married at 1 Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday to Mr. John Adlington, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs J. Adlington, of 31, King’s Crescent, Edlington.

The Rev. G. Bernard officiated and the organist was Mr. Percy Webb. The bride was given away by her father and wore a gown of satin with veil and coronet of orange blossom. She carried pink roses. Her bridesmaids were Misses Gladys Barnett. Rene Adlington and Nora King who wore floral silk taffeta with flowered headdresses, and bouquets of sweet peas.

The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were gold bracelets. The best man was Mr. Horace Adlington and the groomsman Mr. George Adlington. The bride’s mother attended the ceremony in a navy cloque two piece costume with hat to tone and spray of carnations, and the bridegroom’s mother wore a maroon dress with hat to tone and spray of carnations.

A reception was held by the bride’s mother at the Parish Hall.
