To give the new Mexbro’ Club a lift, Sheffield United Reserves played a match there on Saturday, and the visit attracted a gate of about 1,500.

Sheffield United had a good second team in, and a capital game was witnessed.

Mexbro’ opened with only ten men. Both goals were hotly assailed. R. Burkinshaw and Hill combined prettily on the Mexbro’ left wing, and Wainwright and showed up well for United. Wainwright opened the scoring after twenty minutes.

Sheffield United turned round a goal up, but early in the second half had to meet strong and persistent pressure, as a result of which R. Burkinshaw equalised with a fast, low drive. Brayshaw (a Mexbro’ man), who was leading the United vanguard, made one or two pretty solo efforts, but was stopped by Taylor every time.

A capital game ended in a draw, I—l.
