Damage to Oats.

James W. Park and Colin Marrow, pit-hands, of Denaby, were charged at Doncaster on Tuesday with doing wilful damage to oats to the value of 2s. 6d. each, the property of John R. Greasby.

P.c. Thompson said at. 4-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, he was in Denaby Avenue. Conisborough, when he saw the defendants in an oat field. They told him that they had been taking photographs.

Marrow said “We are sorry if we have done any harm,” and the other defendant said “We will not come here any more.”

There was no footpath in the field, but one which led to a place called Denaby Thick, where it stopped. People wishing to go to the new housing estate walked across the oat field.

Defendants were fined 7s. 6d. each.
