Mexborough U.D.C.’s Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Herbert Reginald Platt, who has been promoted to the position of chief financial officer to Mexborough Urban Council, following the resignation of Mr. G. W. Roberts, has been an official of the Council for eleven years.

Mr. Platt was appointed first housing supervisor in 1928, and a year later was put in charge of the Accounts Department when that was formed. Mr. Platt had experience before the war with Messrs. Hattersley, Bros. (Swinton), with the Mining Engineering Company (Sheffield), as confidential clerk to the Mayor of Rotherham, and in charge of the wagon department of Dalton Main Collieries, Ltd.

After serving in France with the Cameron Highlanders, he returned to take charge of the costing department at Dalton Main. He acted fora short time as assistant secretary to Mex-borough Athletic Club:
