Signaller Charles William Carr,
C Battery, 160th Brigade, R.F.A:

Signaller Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Carr, Park road, Mexboro’, has been awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty while in charge of an Aldis Lamp station at Ghelwge, Belgium, on October 14, 1918.

When the regular means of communication failed be went through a barrage of gas and high explosive to get a very important message to battery.

Signaller Carr was formerly a member of the clerical Staff of the Denaby and Cadeby Collieries, Ltd.
